when A young couple begin noticing how unusually idyllic their life is, they start to remember the strange reason why.
Coming soon. Made for the 48Hr Film Contest
BERLIN, 1945. Vaudeville performers Evie and Violet wait backstage for an audience that will never come. Through contemplation of what establishes reality, two performers accept their fate between disillusioned chatter and abandoned expectation. Sometimes, waiting is the sweetest part of life.
Just like-- literally-- the entire world, we had to change our plan.
We love Seed & Spark and what they do for filmmakers, but we planned this campaign during a time when "Pandemic" was only a film genre... So. Update. We're retiring our Seed & Spark campaign. We don't feel confident in trying to raise the 80% required to keep our funds, especially during a time when it feels like everything is up in the air-- our jobs, income, security and plans have all changed so drastically and we know they have for everyone else as well. But all is not lost. Things have changed, but our artistic visions have not. We still plan on creating film, video, art and scripts during this time of social isolation and invite you to join in our virtual community because we still have a lot of cool stuff planned like writing groups, screenplay contests, livestreams and more! if you're still interested in becoming a patron of our arts just click the link and we'll keep this party going :) Last week we launched our Seed & Spark crowdfunding campaign for the second part of Tales from the Dancing Maenads, our anthology of short films celebrating female archetypes in vintage style.
However, in light of the unexpected and paradigm-shifting events occurring worldwide we have been trying to figure out what is best for our audiences and community of creatives. We want to reassure those that have donated or plan to: your contribution to the arts is greatly appreciated and will keep our artistic economy thriving here in Austin. Our campaign has extended to May 9th so we can take some time to navigate the changing economy. Our ultimate goal is always to create and provide meaningful films to our audiences. Art lifts the human spirit, and as people are asked to socially isolate, we have the virtual ability to continue to tell stories that connect and entertain. So that is what we plan to do! Our first five films are now available to view on our website for free, maenadproductions.com so you can enjoy in the quarantined comfort of your own home. Stay safe, we are all in this together, now more than ever. WE LOVE YOU ALL, THE MAENADS |
